When it came time to make his $3,500 bail on assault charges yesterday, rap star Busta Rhymes had no problem coming up with that much money. A tall, bulky man who called himself a business associate reached into his pocket - and plucked out a wad of cash. And that wasn't the only thing that distinguished the 34-year-old rapper from the average defendant.
Rhymes, whose real name is Trevor Smith, waited no more than a half hour before he was whisked out of the downtown Manhattan court complex in a Correction Department bus, which whizzed right past photographers on the sidewalk. He then climbed into a big black SUV that was waiting for him just a few feet away.
